Diversity. Equity. Inclusion.
In the summer of 2020, the University of Oregon’s Panhellenic Council wanted to create its first-ever diversity and inclusion task force. The group needed leaders in the community to take charge of this important task force
My Role: I was appointed to serve as the Marketing Chairwoman for the diversity and inclusion task force. In this role, I lead a group of representatives from various Panhellenic chapters with the goal to promote inclusivity within Greek life. My team and I organized outreach programs, conducted research on various cultural backgrounds and holidays, and produced social media campaigns for underrepresented holidays. In addition, we created social media posts acknowledging systemic racism within the Greek system. This role taught me how to execute a new project from scratch and effectively communicate with various teams within the Greek and campus communities.
The Result: The campaign reached an audience of 3,000+ individuals and generated 1000+ likes on Instagram posts. Our work was posted on the Panhellenic Council’s Instagram and I oversaw the creation and execution of each post. We addressed systemic racism in the Greek life system, land acknowledgment, and underrepresented holidays.
Example Post
Caption: Acknowledging the systemic racism within the Greek system and discussing how these pervasive effects still persist today is the first step towards action. Panhellenic implores you to have the conversation with your chapters to create the change you wish to see. Thank you to @graphicsbylaur for creating this features and continuing this conversation at the University of Oregon.
